Ascent Software, the team behind Swift Postal, have just been awarded ISO 9001 certification. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and involvement of top management, a process-oriented approach, and continual improvement.
The certification was awarded by Dimitto Certification Services. Ascent Software chose to embark on the path to ISO 9001 certification in order to reinforce its customer-centric approach and the company’s strong commitment to process-oriented methodologies. The board of directors believes strongly that an efficient IT business must be driven by processes and ISO 9001 is recognition of this ethos.
To maintain the high standards of customer service and product delivery Ascent use two different process methodologies: Agile and Waterfall. These basically ensure that all development stages are carried out in a set, methodical manner; avoiding setbacks and other pitfalls which often plague development projects. Use of these methodologies was a key aspect of achieving the ISO 9001 certification.
