Ascent Software successfully exhibited its latest software, Retail Hermes Point of Sale (POS)* at Post Expo 2007 in Barcelona earlier this month. Billed as the world’s leading event for the postal, parcel and freight logistics industries, Post Expo provides an unrivalled view of the latest generation of technology solutions and services that are driving the sector. Over 150 exhibitors displayed products in such fields as RFID, automation, security, address management, transportation and tracking technology.
It proved an excellent showcase for Retail Hermes POS: “With over 60 visitors to our stand, it’s been a hectic three days,” commented Joseph Sultana, managing director of Ascent. “Although we are very confident of our winning product, it is always a thrill to experience such great interest from the many decision-makers that visited our stand.”
The Ascent system is built on a unique architecture which allows postal organisations to derive competitive benefits from the technology and tap into new revenue streams. The software is completely integrated and allows post offices to automate counter transaction services including mail, financial transactions, bill payment, and expanded retail operations.
Apart from having a low cost of ownership and being extremely user friendly, Hermes utilises advanced technology to improve counter service and the quality of information available from staff at retail counters. It also acts as a complete data management and monitoring system for senior managers to analyse trends, manage human resources and formulate strategy.
*Retail Hermes POS is the forerunner of Ascent’s suite of software products under the Swift brand. Swift extends the remit of Hermes by allowing for the automation of a wider range of postal operations, from counter services to human resources and CRM. See Products overview.
